My Saturday.

Hello all!

It’s the weekend! Finally! I hope you all have been having a great day. Nick and I have had a pretty busy day and we are finally home and trying not to fall asleep at 7:30pm. Haha. πŸ˜€ Anyways, for today I thought I’d share all about my adventures for the day!

It all started when we hopped into our car early this morning to head out to Bloomington, Indiana. I’ve only ever been to Bloomington on one other occasion, but this time was so much more spectacular! First we went to Kilroy’s and ordered some of their amazing breadsticks. These babies are stuffed with pepperoni and cheese and they will have your taste buds singing!

Next we decided to walk around Indiana University. While Nick has been to the campus a few times, I had never been. Oh my goodness I was not prepared for the beautiful atmosphere we were about to see. IU has a pretty good size campus filled with old style academic buildings and where we walked around there was a wonderful wooded trail. Today was such a quaint and serene day in Bloomington, it was snowing, the kind of snow that is full of big beautiful snowflakes which you can feel melting as soon as they land on your cheek. I finally got to experience one of my favorite parts about winter, a beautiful snowfall when no one else is around and silence surrounds you and you can just hear the faint sound of snowfall in the distance. I loved it!

We also made a quick stop by an adorable hometown ice cream shop called “The Chocolate Moose” this place was so adorable and had hand made ice cream that was sooo delicious! I ordered the Sweet Cinnamon flavor and it tasted like Cinnamon Toast crunch in ice cream form…YUM! πŸ™‚

Here are some photos from our walk.

For the last part of the day, and for part of Nick’s Valentine’s Day gift, I booked us a tour at one of the local breweries, Upland. We were able to visit the main location where all of the Upland beers are made. We had a wonderful tour guide who showed and taught us how beer becomes beer and let us in on what makes creating different brews such an art and craft. It was a really great time!20180217_191202841397301.png

All in all, today was such an amazing day for both Nick and I. We love taking road trips together and always love going to new places and trying out new things! I hope you all enjoyed this post!

Cinnamon Stick Candle DIY.

Hello and good morning!

Happy Friday! I hope you all are having a wonderful day! I am soo ready for this weekend. I have a lot of great plans for this weekend that I’m excited to blog about! πŸ™‚ But in the meantime, I thought I’d share a DIY I made. I made this for Nick’s mom for a Christmas gift. I found the idea via the good ol’ pinterest.

So these can be kind of tricky to make actually and might require an extra set of hands! It’s really not too bad, it’s just a little hard trying to get the cinnamon sticks to stay straight while tying on the ribbons.

Materials:

  • Any kind of candles you like (I purchased 2 vanilla candles of different heights for dimension from Joann’s)
  • Cinnamon sticks (I made these around Christmas time and it was crazy difficult trying to find cinnamon sticks in stores! I ended up finding some packs at Bed Bath and Beyond, but if I make these again I would just order them off of Amazon)
  • Twine
  • Rubber band
  • Any kind of ribbon

Instructions:

  • Break cinnamon sticks in half or to desired height (this is a very messy task!)
  • Put rubber band around candle
  • Assemble sticks underneath rubber band around candles how you would like them (it helps to have a 2nd person with you to hold the sticks in place)
  • Wrap twine around rubber band and sticks, conceal rubber band
  • Tighten twine to hold sticks in place
  • Wrap decorative ribbon around twine to add a decorative touch
  • Tweak positioning of cinnamon sticks to your liking

I hope you all enjoyed this DIY! I want to make these again for a set of my own! Now…the pin says you can light these candles and it will warm the cinnamon sticks and give off a cinnamon scent…but I’m not entirely sure about this. I’m not sure if that would be a fire hazard or not. Nick’s mom just uses them as decoration and I would personally advise just that! They are a beautiful piece to have in your home and smell wonderful just on their own!

Let me know what you guys think of this DIY! I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Sunshine Blogger and Liebster Awards.

Hello!

I am so very excited to announce that I have been nominated for the “Sunshine Blogger Award” and “Liebster Award!” I am so honored and so happy to see that my little blog is being noticed and appreciated! I want to thank Winnie for nominating me! It truly means so much! Feel free to go check out her blog. It is full of inspiration, motivation and beautiful writing! She also always has such kind words to say. πŸ™‚

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive, and inspiring, while spreading sunshine to the blogging community. Winnie combined both of her awards and her questions into one post, so I’m doing the same. So to all of my nominees, I am nominating you for both awards because I really enjoy your blogs! Feel free to accept either both awards or just one. Whichever you prefer! πŸ™‚

Proceeding with the rules:

1. Thank the person who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.

2. Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.

3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.

4. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or your blog.

Here are my answers to Winnie’s questions:

1. Who is favorite author/writer?

-I don’t really have a favorite author/writer, I’ve never really been too into reading…something I’m trying to change. I love reading poetry though.

2. Please share a quote from your favorite author’s works.

–A favorite poem of mine would have to be,

“The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”

3. What type of genre in books do you like?

-History books, specifically about kings and queens and the Victorian times. I find the Tudor Era fascinating.

4. What music do you like?

-Any kind really, except country and jazz.

5. What is your favorite movie?

-Gone with the Wind

6. What is your favorite tv show?

-One Tree Hill

7. What inspires you to write?

-Reading other peoples blogs and watching Youtube vloggers

8. When did you write your first work?

-Well I wouldn’t consider myself a writer, but I started my blog only a month ago

9. Have you been abroad? Where?

-Sadly, no

10. Swimming or skiing?

-Swimming

11. Please describe yourself (You can write as much as you want).

-Describe myself…hmm…well, I’m a pretty shy person at first until you get to know me. People say I have a great sense of humor. At least 80% of the wordage that comes out of my mouth is sarcasm. I’ve been told I can be pretty sassy at times. I care a lot about the people around me and how things affect them. I’m a worrier and over thinker.
